Tips
Here are some tips that will help you before starting out:
Payment of the preservation rate charged by the government may be made through the site http://www.noronha.pe.gov.br/ctudo-taxa.asp. This way, you will avoid lines on your arrival at the airport.
Here’s a list of recommended items for your stay on Fernando de Noronha:
- - Hat;
- - Dark glasses;
- - Sun block (face, body, lips);
- - Moisturizer;
- - Mosquito repellent;
- - Strapped sandals or shoes appropriate to walk on water pools and stones;
- - Knapsack;
- - Flashlight;
- - Mask, snorkel, swim fins (if you have, but these may be rented on the island);
- - Camera and extra films;
- - If you are a licensed diver, you must bring your diving license.
Before consuming goods or services, ask the island’s businesses if they accept credit cards. Pousada do Vale accepts all cards, but cannot include expenses from other businesses to the account of its guests.
The island has only one bank branch, that of BANCO REAL, connected to the 24-hour network that offers draft service from all banks, except ITAÚ, BRADESCO and BANCO DO BRASIL.
There is also a BRADESCO Postal Bank, a CEF agent and an ATM at the airport for drafts with international and Banco do Brasil credit cards.
In general, cell phones get good signals and the island is served by operators Tim, Claro and Oi.
Internet access is 24x7 but, compared with the continent’s standards, it is slow and unstable.
